Telegram Messenger has implemented The Open Network-based self-custodial crypto wallet, TON Space, for its over 800 million monthly active users. Starting today, all Telegram Wallet users will have access to the wallet via Telegram settings. Starting in November, all worldwide Telegram users will be able to access the self-custodial wallet, with the exception of the United States and a few other nations. Telegram’s relationship with the TON Foundation gets TON closer to its original aim, which was abandoned in 2020 owing to a lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The TON Space wallet now acts as a new infrastructure layer for the TON ecosystem, as well as providing priority access to Telegram Ads, Telegram’s worldwide advertising network. John Hyman, Telegram’s chief investment officer, thinks that TONNE Space will allow users to own their identities and assets, making digital ownership rights available to their whole user base.
